What Is Delay Lama?
Delay Lama is a freeware monophonic vocal synthesizer VST instrument released in May 2002 by the Dutch developer team AudioNerdz. It pairs a real-time vowel formant synthesis engine with a live animated Tibetan monk who sings, raises his eyebrows and reshapes his mouth as you play. Two decades later, Delay Lama is still a cult favourite with psytrance, ambient and Eurodance producers.
Why This Website Exists
Delay Lama Online was created to keep this piece of plugin history easy to find and easy to use on modern computers. The original plugin is a 32-bit VST2 that does not load directly in most 64-bit hosts, so we publish clear documentation and a playable WebAudio demo.
Preservation
Documenting the history, features and sound of Delay Lama so it is not forgotten.
Education
Step-by-step 64-bit DAW setup guides for FL Studio, Ableton Live and REAPER.
Play Online
A browser-based Delay Lama web synth with XY-pad, delay and presets.
